A Step by Step Guide To Advanced Procrastination

Have you ever found yourself staring at your to-do list and wondering how it seems to only get longer and not shorter? Do you often find yourself falling into the trap of procrastination, putting off tasks until the last minute, and feeling stressed out and overwhelmed as a result? Well, fear not my friend, because in this article we’re going to share with you a step-by-step program to turn you into an advanced procrastinator.

Now, before we dive into the program, it’s important to note that procrastination can be a serious problem that affects all aspects of your life, from work to relationships, to your own personal well-being. It’s something that should be taken seriously and addressed through techniques like cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, and other proven methods. However, if you’re looking for a quick tip to get started, try this five-minute coaching technique:

  1. Write down one thing you need to do
  2. Identify three points of the task that need immediate attention
  3. Ask yourself “when am I doing this?”
  4. Question yourself “will I do it?”

Now, let’s dive into the step-by-step program to turn you into an advanced procrastinator:

  1. Share your daily intentions on your Instagram story, whilst double-checking and comparing yourself to your nearest and not so dearest.

Social media can be a great tool for connecting with others and sharing your journey, but it can also be a breeding ground for comparison and distraction. By sharing your daily intentions on your Instagram story, you’re not only holding yourself accountable, but you’re also inviting others to compare themselves to you, which can create a vicious cycle of distraction and procrastination.

  1. Comment and share your personal success journey on LinkedIn.

Similar to Instagram, LinkedIn can be a great tool for networking and sharing your journey with others. However, if you find yourself spending more time commenting and sharing other people’s success stories instead of working on your own, it’s time to reevaluate your priorities and focus on your own goals.

  1. Desk arrangement and inspiring plant choice, when was the last time I watered that plant?

Having a clean and organised workspace can be incredibly motivating, but it can also be a form of procrastination if you spend more time rearranging your desk and admiring your inspiring plant choices than actually working on your tasks. Remember, it’s important to find a balance between creating a motivating workspace and actually getting work done.

  1. Getting room temperature just right.

Temperature can play a big role in our productivity and comfort levels, but it’s important to remember that there’s no one “perfect” temperature for everyone. Instead of spending hours trying to find the ideal temperature, focus on finding what works for you and sticking with it.

  1. Ditto chair height.

Similar to temperature, finding the right chair height can be important for our comfort and productivity, but it’s important to not get too caught up in the details. Once you find a comfortable height, stick with it and focus on getting your work done.

  1. Does your mug match your brand?

While it can be fun to have a mug that matches your personal brand, it’s important to remember that your personal brand is not your top priority. Instead of spending time searching for the perfect mug, focus on completing your tasks and building your skills and expertise.

  1. Applying Goethe’s colour principles to your outlook calendar.

Colour can be a powerful tool for organising and categorising our tasks, but it’s important to not get too caught up in the details. Instead of spending hours trying to find the perfect colours for your calendar, focus on prioritising your tasks and completing them in a timely manner.

While some of the tips above may seem like harmless fun, it’s important to remember that procrastination can have serious consequences on your life and work. Instead of spending time on these trivial tasks, try to focus on prioritising your goals and completing your tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

If you find that you’re struggling with procrastination, consider seeking professional help or joining a supervision group to help you overcome this challenge. Remember, the key to success is not in avoiding procrastination altogether, but in learning how to manage it and stay on track towards your goals. So, take the first step today and commit to taking action towards your goals, one task at a time.
